I have always been picky when it comes to cookware. For starters, I have zero patience for food stickage and difficult-to-clean surfaces, which means I always reach for a nonstick pan. Specifically, one that is free of PFOAs and won’t emit toxic fumes just because it gets a little too hot.
These high standards have led me to splurge on cookware. However, after the Our Place Large Always Pan didn’t live up to my expectations, I decided to investigate more affordable options. I landed on the Beautiful by Drew Barrymore Hero Pan, which looks nearly identical to my $150 skillet but is just $40 at Walmart. Now, it has replaced my high-end pan because it cooks food more evenly and is easier to clean.

The do-it-all pan offers enough versatility that I don’t need anything else in my cabinets, which is important considering how little space I have in my New York City apartment. It has 10 cooking functions, allowing me to boil, strain, sauté, simmer, pan fry, sear, braise, steam, stir fry, and serve with one skillet. The 4-quart capacity makes it large enough to cook for guests without taking up too much real estate on the stove, and the long handle is easy to grip and stays cool even with an open flame underneath it.
The surface is made of ceramic with a nonstick coating that’s free of all forever chemicals. The cast aluminum construction makes the pan durable and long-lasting, however, it’s still lightweight enough to easily transport from the kitchen to the dinner table. It’s dishwasher safe, compatible with all stovetops, has two convenient pour spouts to drain excess liquid, and even comes with a stainless steel steamer basket.
Along with its functionality, it’s an aesthetically pleasing choice. I opted for the white icing shade with gold hardware and love how luxe it looks on my stovetop — so much so that I rarely hide it away in a cupboard.
Over 500 shoppers also give it a five-star rating. One customer called it the best pan they’ve ever owned and said it functions even better than the professional set they own. Another it’s still in pristine condition even after five months of consistent use. There are no stains and no issues with food sticking to the surface. Others commented that it’s a great family-sized pan and cooks food evenly and quickly.
